Composer Commissioning Grant

NCACDA is thrilled to announce the inaugural COMPOSER COMMISSIONING GRANT. This grant provides $3000.00 for secondary or elementary schools in the state to commission a new work by a composer of their choice. This opportunity allows students and teachers to choose a composer, build a relationship with them, and actively participate in the commissioning and performance process.

The commissioning school would be invited to perform the new work at the NCACDA Fall Conference in October 2024. Grant funds would also be available for transportation and lodging for the choir to travel to the conference site.

Interested schools should propose a composer and explain their reasoning for it as part of the grant application. Applications may be found online here.

A timeline is below:

The selection committee will approach the composer of the selected choir prior to announcing publicly and, if they are interested, move ahead with the process.

Applications will be evaluated according to their narrative, the strength of the choir’s mission and goals, and the proposed ideas for composer commissions contained in the application.
