NC ACDA MiddleFest 2025
NC ACDA will have its sixth annual MiddleFest on Friday & Saturday, February 7-8, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. We are excited to welcome Vic Oakes, Artistic Director of the Chattanooga Boys Choir and Director of Choral Music and Music Instructor at The Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN, to be our clinician for the weekend.
About MiddleFest
MiddleFest started in 2019 as a festival aimed specifically at middle school aged singers and their directors across North Carolina. The idea was to give them an opportunity outside of a traditional honor choir setting to have a high quality music experience. After our first event in 2019 we were able to incorporate a professional development component into the weekend, allowing our directors to learn not just from the rehearsal process, but also through different sessions presented by colleagues in our field. Teachers are able to get up to 5 hours of renewal credit (.5 CEUs in their content area). The culmination of the event is an afternoon performance of the choir demonstrating what they have learned throughout the weekend.

School/Organization Registration (DEADLINE OCTOBER 11, 2024)
This secures your spot in the festival and helps us to see how allotments each organization receives.
Fee: $25/organization for ACDA members or $40 if you are not an ACDA member
Payment (this has changed!):
Once this form has been filled out, you will receive an invoice from our treasurer, Jeremy Truhel (treasurer@ncacdaonline.org), via email. Invoices can be paid online via PayPal or by check made out to NC ACDA, and sent to the address found on the invoice.
MiddleFest 2025 Student Registration Information → For participating schools
AFTER you have received allotments please complete the student registration form below - we don’t need specific names, just voice parts.
Student Registration (DEADLINE JANUARY 10, 2025)
This form allows you to tell me exactly how many per voice part you will be bringing to MiddleFest so I can seat the choir appropriately and ensure we have a balanced group.

2025 MiddleFest Professional Development - Interest Sessions
NC ACDA is inviting you to submit proposals for interest sessions at the 2024 MiddleFest Event to be held February 7-8, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. Membership in the organization is not required however preference may be given to current, paid-to-date members of ACDA. The application window for Interest Sessions will be open from Sept 1, 2024 through Nov 1, 2024 at midnight. Presenters will be notified of their acceptance by December 1, 2024.
To Propose an Interest Session
As this event is aimed specifically at middle school aged choral directors, we are looking for interest sessions that will speak to these attendees. We’re looking for your best interest session ideas to help our members reach their full potential, be challenged and inspired, and advance their art. We encourage sessions of all shapes and sizes in order to address the needs of our attendees in the current choral climate. Applications will be reviewed anonymously, and adjudicators will use the THIS rubric when reviewing proposals
