The Ligon GT/AIG Basics Magnet Middle School Vocal Ensemble is a year-long, auditioned, mixed grade-level group. Students in the Vocal Ensemble focus on vocal technique across various styles, performance skills, music literacy, and collaborative projects. In adjudicated performances, these singers consistently receive superior ratings.
Recently, the Ligon Vocal Ensemble has showcased their talent at several notable events, including the Wake County Public School System's 40th Anniversary Pieces of Gold celebration, the Candlelight Christmas at Biltmore Estate, the Heritage WorldStrides Festival in Williamsburg, and Festival Disney. In December 2023, the Vocal Ensemble partnered with the Raleigh Youth Choir to perform with the NC Symphony for the annual Candlelight Christmas concert. In 2024, the Ligon Vocal Ensemble was chosen as the middle school performing choir for the NC Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference. Beyond their choral achievements, our singers excel in various disciplines, participating in dance, theatre, and instrumental music programs, all while maintaining a rigorous academic course load.

The FVHS Chamber Choir is one of two advanced ensembles at Fuquay Varina High School. They meet every day all year long and have a blast while doing it. They perform four academic concerts a year, as well as community performances, such as local nursing homes and town events, and a competition each spring. These students are selected in part for their musical ability, but primarily for how hard they work and how they treat the people around them. Over the last 3 years, they have swept every one of their competition, winning first in their division and first overall choral at each event. More importantly, they routinely receive praise from bus drivers, event organizers, hotel managers, and parent volunteers on these trips for being a joy to work with and host. Mr. Cole is extremely proud of the music they make and the culture they create each day at FVHS.

Royal Voices of Charlotte was formed in 2019 by Dr Justin Smith, Director of Choral Activities at Queens University, as an auditioned mixed choir performing repertoire of all types. They have performed by invitation at the North Carolina American Choral Directors Association state conference, sung at Carnegie Hall, and collaborated with Bach Akademie Charlotte at their summer Charlotte Bach Festival.
Royal Voices have received acclaim nationally and internationally, performing back up to Sarah Brightman, winning First Prize in the Mixed Choir competition at the International Choral Kathaumixw in British Columbia, Canada, and performing as an invited choir at the national conference of the National Collegiate Choral Organization. Last summer, they won the First Prize and a Special Jury Prize for Best Performance of a Contemporary Work at the Preveza International Choral Festival in Greece. This past season, they collaborated with the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra in a program featuring Bach’s Magnificat.

Winston-Salem Choral Artists is a premier, fully professional choral organization dedicated to apex artistry, performing highest-level and relevant repertoire before diverse audiences locally, regionally, and nationally. Its mission is to engage with other artistic organizations, educational institutions, and community partners to elevate the human spirit and inspire multigenerational audiences through the power of the choral art.
Having spent the better part of their lives and careers in music, the Choral Artists are exceptional soloists, musicians, and performers from the surrounding Piedmont-Triad area. They are also entrepreneurs, health care professionals, educators, therapists, and everything in between. It is the focus of the ensemble—the teamwork, camaraderie, discipline, and intentionality—that brings them together, but it is the power of the choral art and the impact that music continues to have in their lives, and can have in the lives of others, that compels them to reach audiences through their refined and dedicated artistry.
