Vox Bellator is the top-performing treble ensemble at Cane Bay High School in Summerville, SC. “Vox” was named the SC Treble Choir State Champions in 2018, 2019, and 2026 at the Palmetto State Choral Championships and has performed featured concerts at the 2015 SC ACDA State Conference and the 2019 SCMEA In-Service Conference. They were also named the 2016 Lander Choral Festival Grand Champions. They were also invited to perform a combined concert with the USC Garnet Chorale in the fall of 2025. They consistently receive Superior Ratings with Distinction in performance and sight-singing at the SCMEA Concert Performance Assessment and other festivals across the Southeast. In addition to major concerts, Vox Bellator performs at school and community functions throughout the year and presents an annual production called Vox Night. Members of this ensemble also participate in State, Regional, and National ACDA Honor Choirs; SCMEA All-state Chorus; BCSD All-county Chorus; and Solo and Ensemble Festival.
William Bennett is the Director of Choirs at Cane Bay High School and the Director of Music at Summerville Presbyterian Church. He was selected as a top 10 finalist for the 2015 GRAMMY Music Educator Award and a top 25 Semi-Finalist for the 2016, 2022, and 2023 GRAMMY Music Educator Awards. He was the 2009-2010 Cane Bay High School Teacher of the Year. He is a past President of SC ACDA (2017 - 2019) and the current President of SCMEA Choral Division. Choirs under his direction have performed at multiple Southern Division ACDA, SC ACDA, and SCMEA Conferences, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. Additionally, he has led clinics on student leadership, choral techniques, and sight singing and is a recognized choral clinician around the Southeast. He holds a Master's Degree in Music: Choral and Orchestral Conducting from LSU and a BA in Music: Vocal Performance from the College of Charleston.
Katie Hardwick is the Associate Director of Choirs at Cane Bay High School, where she has been for three years. She has served as a choral clinician for middle schools throughout the state and has led clinics on teaching students with special needs in the music classroom. Previously, she held the appointment as Director of Choirs at Cane Bay Middle School, where she taught 5th-8th-grade choir, inclusion general music, and a Project Unify course. At CBM, she was recognized as the 2016-2017 Rookie Teacher of the Year. Choirs under her direction have achieved superior ratings numerous times at concert performance assessment and are frequently sought after to perform at community events. She holds a Master's Degree in Choral Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College at Rider University and a BA in Music Education: Instrument and Choral Education from Belmont University
