Dr. Kenney Potter
Composer & Conductor

Kenney Potter, a native of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, is the Director of Choral Activities and Music Education at Wingate University. He holds degrees in choral music education from Florida State University, Portland State University in Oregon, and a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Dr. Potter is choir director at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Gastonia, NC and a past associate conductor of the Charlotte Children’s Choir. In addition to his
work with choirs, he is the artistic conductor of the Union Symphony Orchestra. He currently serves as the Repertoire and Standards chair for Male Choirs in the Southern Division of the American Choral Directors Association.
Dr. Potter is an active clinician and adjudicator in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. He has conducted numerous festival and honor choirs, including the North Carolina
Middle School All-State, SC-ACDA Male Honor Choir, and Festival-By-The-Sea church music conference. His compositions are published by Hinshaw Music and the Chorister’s Guild.
He resides in Charlotte with his wife, Heather, also a choral musician, and young daughter.
