The Music in Worship R&S Area of NC ACDA is sponsoring the commissioning and premier of a new anthem by noted NC composer and conductor Dr. Kenney Potter. By signing up to participate right away, your church choir will be able to help bring this project to reality.
Important Details:
- Sponsoring church choirs will pay $150 by the end of March, 2009.
- Each sponsoring church choir will receive the music in the summer of 2009.
You will be able to have enough copies for your entire choir.
- Each sponsoring church choir will be invited to send 4-8 singers to the NC ACDA Fall
- Conference in Greensboro for a Saturday morning (September 19) clinic with the composer/conductor. Our limit is 100 singers total, so sign up right away to get your church on the list!
- The "festival choir" (made up of the singers your choir sends to the conference) will present the premier performance of the new anthem, along with a handful of other significant sacred anthems at an early afternoon featured concert at the Fall Conference!
- After the Fall Conference, your choir will be able to present the anthem at any time in your church's worship services, and you'll have a core group of singers who will be inspired and thoroughly prepped to lead the way.
- IMPORTANT: Although we can accept as many commissioning church choirs as can and will
participate, our "festival choir" size is limited to about 100 singers, so we will have to reserve
those places for members from choirs signing up first!
For your church choir to become a participant in this project:
- Call Andy Roby at 704-482-3467 ext 303 ASAP.
- The first 16 churches to register their intention to participate will be first in line to send 4-8 choir members to the Fall Conference on Saturday, so don't delay!
By the end of March, send your church choir's contribution of $150 to:
NCACDA
c/o Jeffrey Ward, NC-ACDA Treasurer,
East Carolina University, A.J. Fletcher Music Center
Greenville, NC 27858
NOTE: The funds from the sponsoring church choirs will be used to pay the anthem commissioning fee, the honorarium for the accompanist, expenses for the clinician and accompanist, and any facility usage fees that may be needed. Any remaining dollars will go into a NC ACDA fund that will provide seed money for future projects.
